We have an orchard as part of our teeny French place which looks like it'll be perfect for a couple of bell tents, an outdoor kitchen and a dry loo. We'll hunt around for the solution but the links are spot on, thank you. B
I found the Cory Doctorow about Enshittification interesting and explains a lot.
We've seen it so many times where a great product is slowly distroyed this way. Twitter was amazing in the early days, even Facebook, but now 🤦♂️.
Makes me wonder where we could be if only this wasn't the model. I'm sure in the short term it works but if you want a product to last for decades, even centuries wouldn't you play the long game? I think Wikipedia is doing this but it's an entirely different model, and that's the point. Oh, how AudioBoo could have been!!
Totally agree, Ian. Posterous was another one of many that went down the pan because it’s all too easy to be bought out and closed down. Hopefully people will question how long platforms plan to last. And whose best interests they might have at heart.
I really enjoy Substack and wonder what might happen. Especially to the comments, the part of the site you can’t migrate. At least the network can be migrated. Everybody appears to have a price and so it’s another fingers crossed moment.
Lovely stuff. The podcast advice is gold ... and the link to the composting loo timely. Have a great week. Barrie
Ooo, let me know how you get on :-) Don't forget, there are lots of different types... https://cat.org.uk/info-resources/free-information-service/water-and-sanitation/composting-toilets/
