Yes off peak it is possible. But not normally on replacement busses and not on the tube. All of which were a part of this trip. You would have to factor in bike storage on a pub stop as well. One of the pubs did not look like it had an outside space. Never a problem with a folder but might be on a full-size fancy bike you might not want to leave in the street.
Wow, this sounds like a journey I'd like. Would you have been able to take a full size bike on the trains?
