Just to note about bikes, I have a Kona Dew Deluxe that's done very well for me. The only thing I changed, initially, are the tires. It had Continental 32mm CityJet which roll very smoothly but I traded for Schwalbe 28mm Marathon Plus. I was commuting 5 miles each way but now do 9 miles on alternate weeks so I have a Swytch electric kit which has worked pretty well (bar some connector issues inside the battery bag). My only complaint is it's a hard ride on rough roads, I can really feel it in my arms/shoulders but better grips, padded gloves helps.

Cheers for the tip. I'm building a list. Really like the Mason Bokeh bikes at the moment. I had a lovely Kona jump bike a few years back.
