I’ve always been a fan of HCB. His notion of having false arms on his coat so he could keep his arms inside operating a camera with a viewer at waist level always appealed to me. The Blue Book of Nebo is one for the list. Written in alternate chapters by a 14 year old boy and his mum about life after an undisclosed world event which leaves them alone, living in the Welsh mountains without anyone else around. Beautifully written and really compelling. Jake really enjoyed it, it was his jolabokaflod book this year. Our local indie bookshop had it as their book of the year.
