On a totally unrelated topic... I know you’re an Orwell fan, are you aware of the Orwell Daily substack that has been daily serialising Down and Out and is about to do the same again for Road to Wigan Pier.
Cheers Tim, yes I’m a recent subscriber to the Orwell foundation and recently got their announcement email. Looking forward to the 31st when it kicks off. Especially as the diaries start in my hometown of Coventry. :-)
I love the story about recording your friend on minidisk. These friendships, although fleeting, in some ways are as important as the ones that last a lifetime. When I was studying in Prague, my fellow students and I felt like siblings and we were sure we'd be that way forever. It was surprising, even to me, how quickly we lost touch, but it doesn't detract at all from the friendship while it lasted.
I opened a box with a bunch of old minidisks in over the weekend. I wonder what could be in there?

Probably just some old Pentangle albums.
Can’t wait to hear what’s on them :-)
If you’ve not already discovered them, David Bramwell’s band Oddfellow’s Casino are well worth a listen.
Thanks for the tip :-)
Great post - and that skateboard Viennetta is fabulous!
Ta :-)
