I hope all is well in your world.
I spent a chunk of the week between Ironbridge and Wales. I was in Ironbridge for the funeral of podcaster and friend Will Green. (More on that below.) And then in Wales to record some stories from my Dad’s past. I stopped over in his camper van and had a very peaceful night. I’d love to have another van but the prices are still crazy high.
During my time in Wales we captured both video and audio covering from the 1950’s to present day. The long and winding road of adventures that finally lead to Baavet.

I watched ‘The Deepest Breath’. A fantastic documentary on breath hold diving.
That and this short video 'The Power of Words' with Mohammed Qahtani were both recommended by Adrian Storey.

Supporting subscribers will know I went on a bit of a pilgrimage this week.
I really enjoyed fulfilling a promise to Will. Spending some time exploring Ironbridge had me immersed in his playground and I bumped into quite a few people who knew him. One person while I was recording and some weren’t aware he had died.
If you once subscribed to his podcast BritishMac, please check your hard drives or old Time Machine backups, just in case you can find any of Will’s old episodes. We would like to create an archive of his work and get his podcast back online.

I listened to a few episodes of the Climavores podcast this week and learned a lot. Two I would recommend for starters are the episode Got plant based milk? which really opened my eyes as to the benefits of switching to not dairy milk (yes even almond milk) and The magic of trees educated me a whole lot more. It’s quite US centric but don’t let that put you off.
Another podcast that caught my attention is Canadian and called Audio Branding. Although focused mostly on marketing with audio, it chats to some interesting people working and covers some tech and industry focused topics.

We were about to have fish finger sandwiches for lunch when I spotted that there was no tartare sauce. There wasn’t even any horseradish sauce as a backup. I googled what tartare sauce was made of. Just in case. Ideally you need to have some capers to hand but I figured the I’d get by without them and chucked mayonnaise, gherkins, lemon juice, dill, mustard and chopped onion into a mini blender and gave it a whizz. No strict measures. Just what felt right.
It worked! Not only that but even with the absence of capers everyone agreed it was far better than shop bought tartare. I’ve put capers on the shopping list just to compare, but i’m happy to know this is something that can easily be made should you (like me) enjoy condiments and keep a few basic ones around.

I have a fantastic Scandinavian lavvu tent that if not for the centre pole would be exceptionally compact. So this little invention is very welcome.
Cut yourself four 1.8m sticks and you are good to go. Looking forward to some cheeper copies popping up as $33 for this seems a bit steep.
