My hotel room in Paris. There is a table and chair, a rail with hangers on wheels and a double bed with two small tables either side. If you look closely you will see that house keeping was not very thorough as beside the bed is a bag of white powder, possible left by the previous occupant. I did not find this till just before checkout and wow did it cause me some problems. The issue still isn't fully resolved.

There were two things at the forefront of my mind when I thought about Basel. One was an ok but expensive Thai restaurant, the other was a weird hotel that was almost impossible to get into, and after you did, you wondered why you’d bothered.

Halfway through the night I was suffocating. It felt like 40° and I had to open another window. Broken sleep, bad air, it’s amazing how a hotel can ruin your feeling for a place. But grasping for something positive in this, I did get some sleep, and the heat had guaranteed all my freshly washed clothes were dry.

I lay in my sweat pit of a bed, trying to bring my Eurostar ticket forward. But there was no chance. It looked like the knock on effect for the global computer bug had taken away any ticket flexibility. So instead I booked a hotel for two nights in Paris. One night in Paris is never enough and two nights would still be cheaper than what I’d just paid in Basel. I got somewhere pretty central as well.
